Read about how our students explored Taiwan's culture, innovation, and sustainability during a four-day immersion trip to Hsinchu and Taipei in October 2025.

From 28 to 31 October 2025, fourteen of our students, together with three teachers, and our Principal, Mrs Sng, embarked on a meaningful four-day Learning Journey to Taiwan, visiting Hsinchu and Taipei. The trip provided valuable opportunities for cultural exchange, innovation learning, environmental awareness and global exposure.
The group travelled to Hsinchu for their first sightseeing experience at the 17 Kilometers Coastline Scenic Area and the Smiling Waterfront. Students observed the impressive coastal wind turbines and learned about Taiwan’s renewable energy efforts, where they enjoyed scenic coastal views and the strong sea breeze.
Students visited Pei Ying Junior High School for a half-day immersion programme. They attended lessons, interacted with their Taiwanese peers, and shared about Singapore’s education system and school culture. The opportunity to have their school lunch together with their Taiwanese peers, provided an authentic glimpse into the daily student life in Taiwan.
In the afternoon, students explored Neiwan Old Street, where they learned about local heritage and traditional snacks.
The group then travelled to Taipei to participate in a sustainability workshop at Miniwiz Trash Kitchen, located within Songshan Cultural and Creative Park. Students engaged in hands-on activities, including creating wireless charging pads using recycled materials. This meaningful experience highlighted the importance of circular design, environmental responsibility and creative problem-solving. Students also visited the National Taiwan Science Education Centre, which deepened their appreciation for STEM innovation and its real-world applications.
On the final day of the immersion programme, students visited Long Men Junior High School for a meaningful exchange experience. They took part in the school’s distinctive Cultural Heritage Design Programme, gaining deeper insights into traditional arts and practices. The visit was further enlivened by the school’s signature cohort performance, ‘The Dragon Exercise – 龙拳’, which showcased the students’ energy, coordination and strong school spirit.
Throughout the trip, students embraced new challenges with confidence, showed genuine interest and respect for a different school culture, and formed meaningful connections with students from Taiwan.
