NUS Geography Challenge 2026
On 28 February 2026, four of our students – Annisa Nur Khalifatunisa, Patsinee Sastryoungkul, Hadden Chai Zheng Zhe and Chua Ying Xuan – proudly represented Regent Secondary School at the NUS Geography Challenge 2026, organised by the Department of Geography at the National University of Singapore.
This year’s theme, “City for Tomorrow: Shaping our Liveable Future”, invited participants to think critically about how cities can be designed to be more sustainable, inclusive and resilient. Through a series of challenging tasks and discussions, our students explored real-world urban issues such as environmental sustainability, transport planning, housing development and climate change adaptation.
The competition provided a meaningful platform for students to develop a deeper appreciation for the geographies that shape the urban environments in which we live. By examining how cities evolve and respond to global challenges, they gained a broader understanding of geographical issues within both local and international contexts.
Beyond academic knowledge, the experience enriched the students’ passion for Geography. Engaging with like-minded peers from other schools and tackling authentic, thought-provoking questions allowed them to see the subject come alive beyond the classroom. They developed sharper analytical skills, greater environmental awareness, and a stronger sense of responsibility towards shaping a sustainable future.
Most importantly, the challenge nurtured in them a deeper love for Geography — not just as a subject, but as a lens through which they can better understand their surroundings and their role in building cities for tomorrow.
We are proud of Annisa, Patsinee, Hadden and Ying Xuan for their enthusiasm, teamwork and dedication. Their participation reflects Regent Secondary School’s commitment to providing enriching learning experiences that inspire curiosity and a lifelong appreciation for the world around us.
