Bringing Literature to Life: Lower Secondary Literature Learning Journey
On 15 May, our Lower Secondary Literature students stepped beyond the classroom and into the world of live theatre as they watched captivating performances of the plays Perfecting Pratas and Don’t Know Don’t Care. Having studied these texts in class, students were eager to see the stories come alive through powerful acting, expressive storytelling and immersive stagecraft.
The performances offered students a deeper appreciation of the characters, plot developments and themes explored in the texts. Through the actors’ interpretations, familiar scenes took on new meaning and emotional depth, while the use of set design, lighting and sound effects created an engaging and memorable theatrical experience.
Many students were especially captivated by the energy of the performances and how live theatre made the stories feel more vivid and relatable. Watching the plays unfold on stage reinforced their classroom learning in a dynamic and meaningful way, allowing them to better understand the characters’ motivations and key messages.
Beyond strengthening their literary understanding, the experience sparked thoughtful discussions about the themes explored in the plays. It also encouraged students to appreciate theatre as a powerful medium for storytelling and self-expression, making it an enriching and inspiring learning journey.
