Secondary 1 Cohort Camp 2026: Building Resilience Through Adventure

Our Secondary 1 students began Term 3 with an unforgettable Outdoor Adventure Learning (OAL) Cohort Camp at the MOE Changi Coast Outdoor Adventure Learning Centre (OALC). Over four days and three nights, they stepped beyond their comfort zones, forged new friendships and discovered the value of resilience and teamwork through a series of exciting outdoor experiences.

Preparation for the camp began in the middle of Term 2 during Physical Education lessons, where students learnt essential outdoor skills such as map reading and navigation, tent pitching and expedition-style cooking. These skills came to life as students applied them in authentic outdoor settings throughout the camp.

From kayaking across open waters to navigating the artificial caving course, every activity challenged students to communicate effectively, trust one another and persevere in the face of unfamiliar situations. Students also took charge of preparing meals during an outdoor cooking session, working together to plan, cook and share their food while developing cooperation, creativity and problem-solving skills.

A highlight of the camp was the full-day land expedition through East Coast Park and the Siglap area. Armed with maps and their newly acquired navigation skills, students planned their routes, supported one another and completed the journey together, demonstrating that success is built on teamwork and mutual encouragement.

More than an outdoor adventure, the camp was a meaningful journey of growth. Through every challenge and shared experience, students developed confidence, resilience and responsibility while forging friendships that will continue to shape their secondary school years. The memories created and lessons learnt will undoubtedly remain with them as they embark on the next chapter of their Regent journey.
