National Education Commemorations
National Day 2025
Regent Celebrates SG60
This year’s National Day theme, “Building Our Singapore Together”, gave us an opportunity not only to reflect on 60 years of our nation’s shared journey, but also to reaffirm our commitment as Singaporeans to contribute to the next chapter of nation-building.
On 8 August, the Regent family gathered in the school hall for a majestic Observance Ceremony, marked by the Uniformed Groups’ patriotic display and the symbolic march-in of the national flag. The live performance of the National Anthem by our Concert Band made the moment especially meaningful. Through the Recollections segment, students looked back on our nation’s past and were inspired by the National Day message from the Minister for Education, Mr Desmond Lee.

The Observance Ceremony seamlessly transitioned into the Concert Segment, taking Regenites on a heartwarming journey across four significant time periods in Singapore’s history. Each class participated in engaging and symbolic games that tested their knowledge of our country, sparking both excitement and learning. Our Performing Arts groups, Infocomm CCA, and the Regent Pop Band presented a vibrant showcase of music and dance, culminating in a spirited singalong of our favourite National Day songs.

The celebrations ended on a reflective note, as students discussed how Singapore’s shared values have helped us overcome challenges and explored ways they could contribute to a shared future. Their dreams for Singapore came to life in Regent’s SG Reimagined Showcase—a captivating display of artefacts accessible via the RGTSG60 Padlet.

A special video montage captured memorable moments from all our National Education activities, featuring a surprise guest appearance by August, the National Day mascot, much to the delight of our students.
With one heart and one voice, we proudly wish Singapore a Happy 60th Birthday!

Racial Harmony Day 2025
Celebrating Diversity: Racial Harmony Day Concert 2025 – Our People, Our Tapestry
On 22 July 2025, Regent Secondary School came alive with vibrant performances, heartfelt stories, and the united spirit of our multicultural community as we celebrated Racial Harmony Day. This year’s theme, “Our People, Our Tapestry”, shone a spotlight on how Singapore’s diverse cultural threads are beautifully woven together to form our shared national identity.
The celebration began with the Culture Uncovered segment, where students and teachers shared personal insights on their cultural backgrounds. These reflections highlighted how different beliefs can share common values such as empathy, discipline, and strong family ties.
A particularly memorable moment was a live Pipa performance of Lan Ting Xu by Jay Chou, performed by Hanning from 1 Gratitude. Her skill and artistry offered a beautiful glimpse into musical heritage and left the audience captivated.

In the spirit of creativity and inclusivity, Secondary 1 and 2 students took part in the Harmony Video Challenge, producing 1-minute videos centred on the themes of Food and Festival. The winning entries stood out for their thoughtful reflections on how food and cultural celebrations can foster deeper understanding and stronger friendships across communities.

The concert ended on a high note with an energetic musical mash-up by the Regent Pop Band, blending Mandarin, Hindi, and Malay songs into a joyful and powerful celebration of unity in diversity.
We are proud of all our students and staff who contributed to making this event such a meaningful success. As we continue to weave our tapestry of respect, resilience, and harmony, may every thread bring us closer together. Happy Racial Harmony Day!

International Friendship Day 2025
Celebrating Diversity and Connection: International Friendship Day 2025
To commemorate International Friendship Day (IFD), Regent Secondary launched a vibrant series of activities from 14 to 16 April, centred around the theme “Forging Friendships in a Complex World.” The events highlighted the importance of building meaningful connections and embracing diversity in an increasingly interconnected society.

Students began the week with the IFD Regent Rave and in-class engagement sessions. International students and NE Ambassadors took the lead, sharing their personal stories and insights on cultural diversity, sparking conversations about cross-cultural understanding.
Building on these meaningful exchanges, students were next treated to a musical celebration of cultural unity through a live performance by a 4-piece band from Hummingbird Music. The band played iconic songs from across ASEAN, including Getaran Jiwa (Malaysia), Sabaaai Sabaaai (Thailand), Khong (Vietnam), and Anak (Philippines). The captivating performances gave students a chance to see how music transcends borders and fosters cultural appreciation. As one student, Zhi Le, shared, the commemorative events reinforced “how essential it is to create an inclusive, respectful environment.”

The week concluded with CCE lessons focused on the theme of openness. Lower Secondary students explored openness through gallery walks and reflected on its meaning at personal, community, and national levels. Meanwhile, Upper Secondary students used a four-point compass framework to examine the value of staying open-minded in a changing world.
Across the week, students embraced the opportunity to celebrate the diverse backgrounds that make up the Regent community. The events left a lasting impression, reminding us that even small acts of openness and understanding can help forge strong friendships in a complex world.
Total Defence Day 2025
Regent Secondary School observed Total Defence Day with engaging activities, including the Exercise SG Ready initiative. A key highlight was the water disruption exercise, which allowed students to experience the inconvenience of limited water access, reinforcing the importance of preparedness. The school also conducted a Lockdown Drill as part of Character and Citizenship Education (CCE) lessons, ensuring students are equipped to handle security threats.

The event featured a Total Defence Day Parade led by the Uniformed Groups, symbolizing discipline and national defence. They also shared insights on the five pillars of Total Defence, emphasizing the role of every individual in safeguarding Singapore. Through these experiences, students gained a deeper appreciation for resilience, self-reliance, and collective responsibility in keeping the nation secure.
